Dr. Steve Owens

Minister of Music, Fayetteville Campus

Steve Owens has been the Minister of Music at Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church since February of 1990. A native of Amarillo, Texas, Steve is a graduate of North Texas State University in Denton, TX and earned his Master of Music from Boston University. He also earned his Doctorate of Musical Arts from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Before coming to Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church, Steve served on staff at Ruggles Street Baptist Church, Boston, MA; Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Louisville, KY; First Baptist Church, Winter Park, FL; Aloma Baptist Church, Winter Park, FL; and he was an Associate Professor of Clarinet at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL.

Steve’s ministry areas include: coordinating and directing all music activities (choral and instrumental) for all ages pre-school through adults; working closely with the staff and especially the Pastor to plan all worship services for the church.
Steve is married to Jane, who is one of our pianists and organists at Harp’s Crossing, and they have five children (3 girls and 2 boys): Sheryl, Christina, Mark, David, and Rebecca. Steve’s interests include: working out at the gym, walking, teaching clarinet students, and music.
