Mission Opportunities

This is a starting point for opportunities to serve at Harp’s Crossing. More will be added as the needs are made known.

If you are not sure where you are best suited to serve, we encourage you to go through PLACE Ministry during one of the times it is offered and discover what your spiritual gifts are and how you can best serve within your church. Contact Ginger Pope or Keith Stallings for more information on PLACE Ministry.

Next Offering of PLACE is Sunday, February 11, 2018, 5:00-6:15 pm                                                            This one will be a 4-week workshop.

Local Opportunities:

Driver Needed – If you are looking for a place to serve and you can drive, we have just the place for you! The church needs teams of two men to deliver meals to Calvary Refuge Center on Wednesday evenings. Call Donna Rector at 404-695-7180 for more information or to sign-up.

Tree of Angels Project – Every year in November we collect Christmas gifts for children in families we minister to. This year, the Angel Tree will be active November 12-26, 2017. The tree can be found in the Worship Center Lobby. Please stop by on Nov. 12th, pick out an angel or two, so that you can provide a Christmas gift for a child in need. Gifts will need to be returned to the Hospitality no later than Sunday, Nov. 26th.

Do You Love Decorating? Are you looking for your place to serve in God’s Church? We are looking for volunteers to step up and serve in our Sanctuary Beautification area. This would include arranging the baptistry flowers, arrangements for the tables in lobby, and decorations for Christmas and other special holidays. We are looking for a team of people and also for one to take the lead and head this up. If interested, please call the church office 770-461-5318.

Sewing Do you have simple sewing skills or more advanced skills? Can you cut fabric from patterns? We can use you in the choir and drama ministries sewing simple costumes. Contact Kathy Massengill for more information.

Sunday School Teacher We are in need of teachers and teacher helpers in our Preschool, Children, Youth, and Adult areas. The new Sunday School year will begin August 6th and we still have some openings. Contact Keith Turner if you would like to serve.

Wednesday Night Missions and Choir Leaders The Wednesday night Missions and Choir groups for children and youth will promote on August 9th. There are still some openings for leaders and helpers. Contact Linda Bidez for missions and Steve Owens for choirs if you would like to serve in one of these areas.

Do you like to cook or serve meals? We can use you for some of the many events that are held at our church. From teacher breakfasts, committee meetings, bereavement meals for families during funerals, or other events throughout the year that come up and a meal is needed, we can use volunteers to help us out. If you would like to serve in this area, please call the church office or email Jenny Davis and allow her to put your name and contact information on a list so that as the need arises, we can pull in help from you and other volunteers.

GBC Disaster Relief Training –  See David Bowen for more information.

Backpacks for Appalachia Project – (Now known as Backpacks of Hope) – Each year, we collect backpacks filled with items during the month of September. Thank you to those who made this year’s project a great success! Through your generous donations, our church was able to deliver 194 filled backpacks to Cleveland, TN for children in need.

World Hunger Project – In October of each year, an offering is taken to go to help fight hunger in many parts of our world.

Vacation Bible School – Thank you to everyone who helped out and shared the Good News this year with the children. We hope you will make plans to join us again next year! For Fayetteville Campus questions contact Judi Knowles.  For Hollonville Campus questions contact Gina Hatchett.

Good News Club – We are looking for volunteers right now to help us in the 2017-2018 school year. Club meets every Monday during the school year at a local elementary school in Fayetteville. Become involved in helping out with a club that teaches children about the love of Christ. Contact Sheryl Bodron for more information. We will teach you all you need to know. Come join us!
